An authentic inn in the heart of an unspoilt island!
It is said that long ago, before the Île d'Aix became this car-free haven of peace, a small stone building stood facing the Pertuis Charentais. Sailors could recognise it from afar: a sturdy house, lit up at night by a lantern hanging on its façade. It was a refuge. A place where you could always find a bowl of hot soup, a story to listen to, and a roof for the night.
This house became the Auberge des Pertuis.
Over the decades, it has seen many travellers pass through: monks, soldiers, fishermen, orphans on summer camp, families seeking peace and quiet, lovers coming to lose themselves on the footpaths, artists in search of light, visitors intrigued by Fort Liédot or the distant silhouette of Fort Boyard.
All of them left something behind: a memory, the smell of the sea, a few laughs, a fragment of history.
Even today, the inn still carries these memories.
The Auberge des Pertuis offers a unique setting for a rejuvenating getaway. Here, everything invites you to relax, enjoy nature and explore.
Our range of cottages for 2 to 6 people combine simplicity, comfort and Charente character. (equipped kitchenette, private bathroom and toilet facilities). Some offer unobstructed views of the island's landscapes, others overlook the enclosed and secure courtyard. The inn is just a stone's throw from the coastal paths, the village, iconic historical sites and, of course, the beach. There is a private adjoining garden, barbecues, picnic tables, children's games and deckchairs available.
