PERMANENT EXHIBITION: SHIPBUILDERS: Until 1987, large ships were built in Nantes. The ‘Shipbuilders’ exhibition traces the two thousand years of this history, which has had a profound impact on the region.
A wealth of tools, models, films, audio recordings and maps bring to life the unique world of the shipyards and their workers. Technical developments, shipbuilding trades, working conditions and trade union struggles form the main themes of the exhibition, not forgetting the importance of the River Loire, the port, the transporter bridge and the major changes to the Île de Nantes.
