The marshes of the Vigueirat

Located at the junction of two unique ecosystems, the Camargue and the Crau, the Vigueirat Marshlands host remarkable biodiversity.
In this vast wilderness - one of the largest territories acquired by the Coastline Conservatory in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region - lives 286 species of birds, almost 20,000 ducks, 641 species of plants and herds of bulls and horses, so specific to the Camargue.
A naturalist guide accompanies visitors on a circuit with four observatories and two towers, which allow observation of the wildlife without disturbing it. Discovery in a horse-drawn carriage is also available to visitors. Finally, discovery is possible on the trails equipped with wildlife observatories, and interpretation booklets are proposed to visitors to give them more information on the natural environment. Amongst them, the Cabins trail, built on stilts, is ideal for families and persons with reduced mobility with its eight interactive huts spread throughout the trail leading visitors to the lookout of the marshlands.
Well advanced in its responsibility towards the planet, the site highlights its efforts with regards to water, air and energy in a human and nature protection message.
Partner of WWF France, the Vigueirat Marshlands are a benchmark for sustainable tourism and environmental responsibility.
