Gardens that reflect the diversity of the world
The banker's ideal of cultural diversity is also reflected in his magnificent gardens in Boulogne, which he laid out between 1895 and 1910. The 4-hectare gardens, an integral part of the collections, take visitors on a botanical journey around the world. In this way, the philanthropic banker brought together and harmoniously combined the most diverse gardens, in the image of the world he dreamed of: a garden of the angels.

The utopian project of the philanthropic banker of Boulogne-Billancourt.
The former estate of banker Albert Kahn now belongs to the Hauts-de-Seine department. A unique opportunity to explore the splendid gardens and discover the personality of a singular 19th-century man.
The archives of the planet
In the 19th century, Albert Kahn, a banker with dreams of a peaceful world, settled in Boulogne-Billancourt. Perceiving that his era would witness great changes, he built up an iconographic memory of societies. Between 1909 and 1931, he sent operators to photograph and film in over 60 countries. The images were brought together in the Archives de la Planète, a collection of 180,000 metres of black and white film and over 72,000 autochrome plates, the first industrial process of true colour photography, of which the museum now has the largest collection in the world.
